Blend of Hawaiian and Contemporary Robi Kahakalau, one of my favorite female artists has again done a really great job here with this new recording. Her new release ALL I WANT features some of her favorite songs (and mine,too). A skilled and versitile vocalist, ALL I WANT embraces all types of musical genre ranging from Hawaiian music to reggae, blues, jazz, and R&B, with lyrics in English, Hawaiian, Tahitian and French. In her own words, "I put my heart and soul into music, and all I want is for people to enjoy what I share." All the Hawaiian songs are written by her brother Ku Kahakalau, a prolific, gifted composer and are truly superb. Her Tahitian song (Tamari'i Hokule'a) pays tribute to the voyage of the Hokule'a during its journey to the Tuamoto Islands in 1987. Old favorites, Blue Bayou (she sings partly in French on this one - listen to our audio sample), Give Me One Reason (Tracey Chapman) Take It To The Limit (Eagles) and Landslide (Stevie Nicks) are all terrific. A number of guests appear with her on this CD including: Kapena, The Makaha Sons, Lehua Kalima (Na Leo Pilimehana), Quino, Jerry and Kevin from Big Mountain, Ernie Cruz,Jr., Troy Fernandez, Eric Gilliom, BB Shawn, Randy Lorenzo, and Sean Na'auao - just to name a few.
