 The men of Na Kama are proud to announce the release their very first full-length Christmas recording, “E Ola Ke Ali‘i” (The Na Kama Christmas Collection – Volume I)! The 10-track CD features two previously released singles that have been revisited to include Danny Naipo, who was not a member of the group when these songs were originally recorded: “Christmas In The Islands” (composed by Randie Kamuela Fong) and “Mary’s Little Boy Child” (composed by Jester Hairston), three instrumental holiday classics: “Hawaiian Santa,” “Adeste Fideles” (O Come All Ye Faithful), and “Winter Wonderland”, and a mixture of classic and original holiday selections for the season. “We were in the midst of recording our next Hawaiian CD to follow ‘Kamakolu’ (Na Kama’s third release which garnered them their first Na Hoku Hanohano Award in 2007 for Hawaiian Language Performance),” said Na Kama’s lead guitarist and musical director Eric Lee, “when we decided at the last minute to take a breather and put out the holiday album first. October 2008 marks Na Kama’s 10th Anniversary in Hawaiian music and making this Christmas recording was an opportunity to express our gratitude for all of our blessings over the last ten years, getting our first Na Hoku Hanohano Award, and paving the way for another ten years of music and fun, Na Kama style! We definitely had a wonderful time creating it, and we hope the listening audience will too.
